want to style your Coastal Hamptons Living Room?
The easy, breezy, summery look that the coastal Hamptons style offers is perfect for simple, open-plan designs. The coastal Hamptons style complements the natural backdrop of homes, particularly in coastal locations. Bree Petherbridge, co-owner of Style My Home happily walked us through on how she combined natural and nautical features, along with blue hues to create a coastal Hamptons living room.
Bree from Style My Home shows you how to create a living room coastal Hamptons look
#1 NATURAL ELEMENTS
Bree explained that the coastal Hamptons look is very tactile, which can be seen in the set of weathered oak chairs she placed across the couch. The coffee table has a rustic white finish where you can see the grains of wood running across the surface. The use of natural fibres such as rattan and rope also brings in natural elements to the room. Bree placed large rattan plant baskets in the corner to add height and splashes of lush greenery. Finally, the white-washed beaded chandelier that is placed off-centre above the coffee table draws the eye upward.
#2 NAUTICAL ELEMENTS
The large clam shell that Bree used as a centre piece on the coffee table is actually made of resin, so you don’t have to worry about the edges scratching your surfaces. She explains how it can also be used as a fruit bowl, planter or filled with ice when you are entertaining guests. Other nautical features that can be seen in the room are the white corals as bookends and the sea shells scattered throughout.
#3 TOUCHES OF BLUE
The living room’s focal point is clearly the artwork that hangs above the couch. Pulling colors from the artwork, Bree incorporated touches of blue throughout the space to complement and balance the oceanic hues that can be found in the painting. The natural fibre rug mimics the look of the ocean as well as the deep blue cushions that can be found on the couch and chairs. The vintage books on the entertainment unit, vases and other curiosities also add blue hues to the room.
